The Blue Heron Stage is the permanent venue for the Planet Bluegrass Lyons Festival Grounds. Inspired by a Blue Heron I saw flying up the St. Vrain River when I was walking the site, the winged roof structure is my attempt to capture the grace and weightlessness of the that beautiful creature as it spread it’s wings and floated upstream on a current of air. The winged roof embraces the stage, and hopefully allows the musicians playing bellow to soar along too.

TIM PICKARD

Tim Pickard, Principal and Owner of Monopole Design, is a Colorado Licensed Architect, and Denver Licensed Residential General Contractor. Tim has been practicing since 1995 as the owner of Monopole Design. He received a Masters of Architecture degree from University of Oregon in 1990. His love of other cultures has led him to travel extensively, and live in many different countries, which has greatly influenced his architecture.
